Meet the Artist Who Built the Boombox Art Piece in Frank Ocean’s Video Stream

Yesterday, Frank Ocean uploaded a mysterious “live video stream” on his site, causing everybody, including us, to believe that he was going to share his long-awaited, yet-to-arrive follow-up to channel ORANGE, Boy’s Don’t Cry. Turns out, to everyone’s disappointment, the video was not a live stream; rather, it was a loop of a display built by Tom Sachs. Before we give up on Frank, it was revealed that his album will drop this Friday. Last month, our friends at HYPEBEAST caught up with the Brooklyn artist where he talked about his work, which are inspired by Jamaican sound-clash culture, New York corner stores and Defender, the classic 1980 arcade game. On top of the high art/trollesque display they put up, Frank and Tom reportedly have “other projects [they’re] d*cking around with”; watch the video above.
