Watch Trash Talk Frontman Lee Spielman Discuss Their Hollywood Store, Babylon

Los Angeles punk band Trash Talk have cultivated a powerful, progressive community in the heart of Hollywood with their respected Babylon storefronts. Selling zines, clothing, art and skate gear, the group also open Babylon up to local kids for punk shows and other cultural or artistic events. In a new interview with Soundproof, Trash Talk frontman Lee Spielmen unpacks the goals and objectives behind Babylon. “This is almost taking what we’ve learnt from punk and repackaging it and presenting it in a different way… but at the same time, we want it to be an open door policy for kids to be able to come and learn and be themselves. We tried to create something that doesn’t feel too cool.” Spielmen also goes in-depth on exactly what punk means for the community. “When we play a show, it’s like an event… every kid, whether it be skateboarders, graffiti kids, prog rockers, punk rockers, rappers… I really like the platform we have to be able to expose kids to other sh*t.” Watch the full interview above.
