The Late Charlotte Cummings, Who Stockpiled Jordans Since 1985, Has Her Collection On Display

When you think of vintage sneaker collectors, you’re pretty much always going to picture a male. It’s true, about 99% of the world’s community of vintage sneaker collectors are guys. And that’s what makes this amazing collection even more special and unique. On display now at the campus of Wallace State Community College in Alabama is the collection of the late Charlotte Cummings, who co-owned an athletic footwear store throughout the 1980s and ’90s with her husband Robin. Looking like a genius now, Charlotte began setting aside Air Jordans and other sneakers for safe-keeping beginning in the mid-80s, amassing the collection seen today in the museum environment. Unfortunately, Charlotte has since passed away, but Robin has kept her love for sneakers alive with the exhibition, even adding more sneakers to here original collection within the last two years. Those in the Hanceville, Alabama area can view the awesome collection until March 15th, 2016. You can also see more of the collection on Robin’s Instagram page.
