No Bots Needed: This Week's Uncovered Footwear Gems

In today’s market, you can always count on a steady stream of sneaker releases to satisfy any and every sneakerhead. Many of us are pretty familiar with the major releases, mostly due to constant promotion and celebrity endorsement deals, but what about those general release silhouettes that fall off the radar just a bit? Well, we have got you covered. Last week we shed light on some sleepers from Vans Vault, Nike, Reebok and New Balance, this time around we highlight some drops that may have went in one ear and out of the other.

Air Jordan 7 “Olympic Alternate”

Paying homage to the original Air Jordan 7 worn by MJ during his Dream Team days, Jordan Brand has placed yet another twist on the Olympic-themed smeaker. This year’s colorway sees a brighter Deep Royal Blue and Fire Red, while its former navy-colored tongue is now white to complement its laces. Noticeable changes can be seen within its transitional color change from white to red on its midsole as well as Deep Royal Blue added to its paneling on both lateral and medial sides. The Air Jordan 7 “Olympic Alternate” is expected to release on August 6 for a retail price of $190 USD.

ASICS Gel-Kayana Trainer

Part of the “Moon Crater” Pack, this rendition of the ASICS Gel-Kayana Trainer sports different shades of Dark Grey. Its support system lies in its beige midsole that provides a contrasting look from its upper. Throughout its upper you’ll find a mix of synthetic and suede materials that complement one another. Retailing for approximately $145 USD at select retailers such as afew.

Nike Free RN Flyknit

The Swoosh will make its way to the medal stand in commanding fashion at this year’s Olympic Games. Nike’s Free RN Flyknit silhouette will be the official silhouette used when USA and Brazil receive their respective hardware. There’s no confirmation if this eye-catching volt colorway will be used across the board, but we can expect the Flyknit based silhouette to be seen pretty frequently alongside possible special PEs (player exclusives). The pictured Volt edition is set to release on August 6 at select retailers and online.
