The Ottoman Room in Singapore, offers luxurious interiors and food from the Middle East

Like a well-kept secret that you share with a select few, the Fat Prince hides the luxurious dining venue known as The Ottoman Room. Both with their own unique settings and menu that reflect their inspirations, the restaurants now join Peck Seah Street to satisfy our cravings for what the Middle East has to offer. While we would have loved to sample the fare offered by both, we were only able to enjoy the delicious offerings from The Ottoman Room.

Before we go into the menu that is fit for a Sultan, we have to gush over the décor that welcomes you as you venture beyond the bar of the Fat Prince. Like those in the Ottoman Empire, guests dine in a candle lit room thanks to glass lanterns hanging from the ceiling and warm interior that brings to mind an aristocratic dining hall. Thanks to the team behind the Middle Eastern inspired setting is none other than EDG Interior Architecture + Design, The Ottoman Room may very well be the next destination for that candle lit dinner or an intimate gathering with friends. Boasting handpicked rugs from Istanbul, brown leather sofas and lounge chairs one can unwind and dine in comfort — a perfect way to kick off the weekend in our opinion.

Earth Oven Apple Stuffed Lamb Shoulder

Our meal at The Ottoman Room kicked off with cocktails that are made using Middle Eastern ingredients. These speciality creations such as Black Sea Rize (made with vodka, lemon ginger and Turkish Tea Syrup) and Kopek Tutu (sumac & anise rum, dark rum, amara Montenegro and lime) the meal promises to be a fitting tribute to what was once one of the most powerful empires in the world.

Black Lentil Salad

Thanks to Chef Hunter Moyes, The Ottoman Room serves up a feast that is perfect for sharing. While most restaurants offer a free flow bar menu, this establishment chooses to go with a free flow mezze menu that you do not have to order for it to be delivered to your table. While the three variations of Hummus can be enjoyed all night long, we also recommend the sharing options that features items that are cooked in a wood-fired earth pit. Our recommendations are the Apple Stuffed Lamb Shoulder and Grilled Fish with Za’atar Pesto and cucumber Labneh that is a part of the menu’s Meat & Fish selection. For a healthier option, Moyes has also added Black Lentil Salad that includes chayote, pomelo and watercress that provide an interesting journey for the palate.
