Bleacher Report Unveils World Cup x Hip Hop Collection

In celebration of all things World Cup just ahead of the Finals, Bleacher Report has teamed up with some of hip hop’s finest to create a capsule collection of hometown football jerseys and shirts. 21 Savage, Vince Staples, The Roots and Vic Mensa, along with rising rappers Smokepurpp and YBN Nahmir have all collaborated with the sports site to create a unique design related to the cities they represent. Each artist explained the reasoning behind their custom jerseys and how it ties to their respective hometowns:

“My brand is the dagger and Zone 6 4L, so I always rep both. I kept it simple and made sure the design represented me.” – 21 Savage

“I grew up playing soccer by way of my Ghanian father, so the sport is in my blood. I wanted to combine my experience with my love for the game to create something representing Chicago.”- Vic Mensa

“The World Cup is one of the few sports events that unites the entire world. Unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to cheer on USA this summer. However, we live and breathe all things Philadelphia, so we jumped at the opportunity to create World Cup soccer jerseys that repped our city. We think we designed a jersey that shows the passion, grit and beauty of Philly.” – The Roots

“I drew inspiration from Miami Vice and the South Beach Colors.” – SmokePurpp

“I wanted to design something that represented my city, with a classic feel to soccer attire. Alabama isn’t known for soccer, just as me making it out of Birmingham as a rapper is rare. I feel the jersey represents the unexpected, but something to be proud of.” – YBN Nahmir

“This jersey represents Long Beach as I see it.”- Vince Staples
