Dior Homme Enlists Larry Clark for Its 2017 Spring Campaign

When Kris Van Assche went about designing his Spring 2017 collection for Dior Homme, the Belgian designer covered his walls and mood boards with Larry Clark’s stylized imagery as a source of inspiration. So, when it came time to shoot the collection’s corresponding campaign, Van Assche naturally reached out to Clark himself. The result sees Clark helming both advertising campaigns and a promotional video as Dior channels the celebrated polymath’s youth-centric aesthetic. “When I accepted the Dior job, the first thing I told them was that I’m not a fashion photographer,” Clark said. “And their immediate response was, ‘That’s why we want you.’”

“Larry Clark is a major reference point and it is therefore only normal that I had pictures of him and his work all over my mood boards,” added Van Assche. “It felt like a full circle. Larry from my inspiration walls became the image-maker for the collection.”
