Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2019 Collection

It’s no secret that Kim Jones is more than just part of fashion and streetwear. His reach extends beyond with friends in high places that include movies, music, television, and art. It’s not so much more different than that of other fashion creatives but Jones has found a way to always shine light and praise friends he’s become close to, especially friends who share the same talents.

For his Spring/Summer 2019 debut for Dior, Jones worked alongside Yoon of AMBUSH as well as ALYX‘s Matthew Williams for the collection, namely jewelry and some design details on clothing, respectively. If that’s not enough, globally renowned artist KAWS was also brought on board to create the look and vibe of the whole show. His KAWS “Bees” and more even appear on some of the garments.

With that said, powerful friends and confidants are not always enough. Even with A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Virgil Abloh and more sitting front row, Jones still had the job to wow buyers, press and other industry influencers. For the clothing, Jones redefined the careful elegance that’s always been attached to the Dior Homme name. It’s not a far departure from what he’s done in the past but we see Jones really up the tailoring for Dior, a house frequently known for it’s sharp, flawless suits. Pastel colors, colorful flower patterns, loose-slouch cuts really defined the collection. But it’s hard for Jones to escape his athleticwear and streetwear roots which can be seen on the shorts, tanks, tees and outerwear. All-in-all, it was an admirable showing and the industry eagerly awaits the public’s reactions through purchases to the ensembles come next season.
