Hajime Sorayama “A Touch of Mercury” Sculpture by Case Studyo

After collaborating with Medicom Toy on a set of BE@RBRICK and R@BRICK collectibles, Hajime Sorayama continues to surprise us with more artwork ahead of his upcoming “Sorayama Explosion” exhibit.

The famed illustrator has now partnered with Case Studyo on a new sculpture titled “A Touch of Mercury.” The fine art producers shared a first look at the piece on Instagram.

The sculpture heavily reflects Sorayama’s recognizable lustrous aesthetic and robot-inspired elements, in the form of an index finger pointing up. The metallic figurine will be available on July 11 — the opening date of the exhibit — at Nanzuka Gallery in Tokyo.

APPortfolio also announced that in honor of the exhibition, limited editions of the Sorayama Classic Robot SURF would be available to purchase both online and on-site for $1,700 USD. The sculpture is comprised of alloy and mixed materials, with dimensions at 48 x 50 x 52 cm. The online release is slated to go live on July 7 at 10am HKT/July 6 at 10pm ET at APPortfolio’s website.
