Herschel Supply tapped Shanghai’s Linehouse to develop a suitable space for the Canadian brand’s first-ever flagship outpost store, located in Shibuya, Tokyo. Linehouse elected to draw influence from Herschel’s Vancouver roots, playing upon the concept of a living space for the urban forest. What results is an alpine cabin-influenced dwelling, fragmented by mirrored walls and translucent, angular counters. The angled timber battens seen on the facade were painted with varying blue shades, creating a shifting horizon of color depending on the viewing angle. Inside, wood-paneled flooring contrasts with concrete, juxtaposing warm homeyness with blunt industrial design. More painted battens on the inside further that disparity, with both stainless steel walls and blue-hued wood boasting jutting metal hooks for bag display.
