KAWS Large ‘Companion’ Sculpture in South Korea

KAWS continues to erect large-scale permanent sculptures of his beloved Companion figure in international cities. Following his Waiting statue in Detroit is the Brooklyn-based artist’s new massive piece at the I-Park apartment complex near South Korea’s Gwanggyo Lake Park.

Purchased directly from Galerie Perrotin, the monumental artwork was popularly seen at KAWS’ intermittent “Where The End Starts” exhibitions at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in Texas (2016) as well as the Yuz Museum in Shanghai (2017). It’s important to note that this work-in-progress sculpture is not related to the AllRightsReserved x KAWS giant floating figure that will cruise on Seokchon Lake this July 19 until August 19.

Nevertheless, peep the Instagram post below to see what the new Companion sculpture will look without any protective covering and stay tuned for more details.
