Lucasfilm Postpones All ‘Star Wars’ Spinoffs

It is being reported that Lucasfilm will put plans for future A Star Wars Story spinoffs on hold as it focuses its attention on the upcoming Episode IX film and “what the next trilogy of Star Wars films will be after that film,” according to Collider. The previously-rumored Obi-Wan film was in active development but it now appears those involved are no longer attached to the project.

Sources also say the previously-announced Boba Fett film from Logan director James Mangold will be included in this change of strategy, as early talks took place before the lackluster release of Solo: A Star Wars Story and its mixed reviews. Solo was the lowest performing Star Wars film thus far, earning $84.4 million USD in its opening weekend, grossing a total of $192.8 million USD domestically and $339.5 million USD worldwide.

The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson’s spin-off trilogy is still in the works, as is the Game of Thrones showrunner’s series of films.
