Nike Gyakusou Gaiter Boot Release Info & Date

The NikeLab x Gyakusou Gaiter Boot is geared towards runners who enjoy taking a route slightly off the beaten path. Designed by Jun Takahashi, founder of UNDERCOVER and a keen runner, this is inspired by Tokyo-based running crew Gyakusou International Running Association (GIRA).

The shoe itself, which is released in two contrasting colorways — a vivid orange and all-black — is most notable for its unique zip construction that runs from the forefoot all the way around the heel to the top of the boot’s opening. Its heel toggle, used to tighten the upper and ensure a snug fit, is also an unfamiliar design. The upper is crafted from durable nylon and is patterned with a bold stripe design, while the sole unit is heavily tractioned to enable the wearer to brave almost any outdoor environment with ease. GYAKUSOU literally translates to mean “running in reverse” and is seen by Takahashi as a motif of the shoe’s ability to help the wearer forget his worries and focus on his path.

You can pick up a pair now at select retailers like Sneakerboy. Sticking with all things Nike, the Air Huarache goes to space with a “Mars Stone” update.
