The Weeknd Star Boy Piano Cover is my attempt add more emotion and instrumentation to pop music. I listened to the song and got a good feel of the melody then I sat on the piano and played it improvising the arrangement as went along. I did this till I was able to stop thinking about what my fingers were doing and I could just feel the emotion of the music. I love doing pop music covers and The weekend is a great artist; however, I sometimes miss the “real” instrumentation that we had before synthesizers with cool beats sort of took over pop music. Don’t get me wrong, I still love pop music of today, obviously I am doing pop covers but I think doing to renditions with acoustic instruments like the piano, really opens up new ways to express the melody. You would probably not find me jamming to one direction in my car but in my studio, I get to listen to just the melody of these songs with the screaming teens and the pop culture stuff they come with. In that space, I find very musically simple but memorable melodies. Translating that to the piano or other instruments is where the fun lies for me
