Watch ‘The Architects of the New LA Sound’

Back in February, R Baron Group, California’s reigning creative direction and artist management firm, revealed plans for a new documentary on the contemporary Los Angeles rap scene. Fittingly-titled The Architects of the New LA Sound, the piece was introduced with a trailer that starred super-producer and regional hero Ron-Ron and placed his forward-thinking sound under the spotlight. Now, the entire documentary has emerged.

A joint venture between R Baron and Red Bull Music, the visual was directed by Truman Kewley, who spent nearly a year putting the entire package together. Most notably, the film introduces viewers to the stories of Drakeo the Ruler and his crew, 03 Greedo and Shoreline Mafia. Renowned journalist Jeff Weiss, No Jumper‘s Adam22, industry veteran Tracy Kimbro and other high-profile figures all make appearances and stop by to give their thoughts on their area’s current movement. Rounding out the presentation: Shy Glizzy has paired the effort’s release with the debut of his official remix of “Big Banc Uchies,” a standout single from Drakeo’s incredible Cold Devil project.
