Fairline to Premiere Biggest, Smallest Models at Cannes in September

Fairline has unveiled details of the new Squadron 68 that will become its new flagship when it’s launched in the summer before its global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival, where the British builder will also show the new F//Line 33.

With production of all of the builder’s 60ft-plus models moving south to the new Fairline Marine Park in Hythe, Southampton, the last Squadron 65 left the Oundle headquarters in March as the model was discontinued to make way for the 68, with the first units already being built in the new site.

Like most recent Fairline designs, the 68 is designed by Italian Alberto Mancini with engineering from Vripack.

Initially called the Squadron 64, the spacious new flybridge was renamed to reflect its new, grander proportions, with the addition of a 2ft 6in extension to the bathing platform providing greater space for jetskis, a jet tender or sun loungers, and creating a larger beach-club style environment.

The 68 offers 12 per cent more lower-deck accommodation space, a five per cent larger saloon and a 10 per cent bigger flybridge than the outgoing 65.

The yacht offers an expansive main-deck galley as well as the newly designed option of an extended VIP forward cabin, offering the additional benefit of a vanity unit and even greater storage space. Overall layout options include three or four cabins.

David Tydeman, Fairline’s Executive Chairman, said: “Our Squadron range has always aimed to provide owners with the ultimate luxury escape and we’re confident the new Squadron 68 delivers this.

“It is our most sophisticated model yet and we’re sure our customers around the world will love the irresistible blend of ultra- modern design from Alberto Mancini and the sumptuous onboard environment. We can’t wait to share her with our customers at Cannes this September.”

Tydeman also paid tribute to the Squadron 65 after the last unit left the company’s Commissioning and Handover Centre in Ipswich. A total of 79 units were built since the yacht’s launch in 2009.

“The Squadron 65 has proven a very popular model with
our customers around the world over the last 10 years, with its combination of free-flowing luxurious space and considered design,” Tydeman said. “This model has laid the foundation for the next generation of Fairline flybridge models, the first of which hits the water this summer.”
