Monte Carlo Yachts to display MCY 66, 70 at June’s Venice Boat Show

Italy’s Monte Carlo Yachts has launched the second of three new yachts for 2019, with its new MCY 66 preparing to join the MCY 70 at the Venice Boat Show from June 19-23. The third of the builder’s new models this year, the MCY 76, will join the duo at September’s Cannes Yachting Festival in France.

The new 70 was launched at Boot Dusseldorf in January and inaugurated the second generation of MCY yachts, with the 2019 models replacing the former 65, 70 and 76. The new models are evolutions of the originals, retaining the iconic features and emphasis on timeless design.

Fabrizio Iarrera, Chief Executive of Monte Carlo Yachts, said: “Innovation alongside continuity is the vision behind the second generation of the MCY Collection. MCY 66 together with MCY 70 and the soon-to-follow MCY 76 display over a decade of design and manufacturing expertise, and a natural evolution of the collection’s iconic characteristics.”

Monte Carlo Yachts still offers extensive customisation options for interior design, layouts and materials, making the most of the Monfalcone yard’s partnership with the Nuvolari-Lenard Design Studio, which has a long history of designing for the world’s biggest superyacht builders.

The smallest model in the range, the 36-tonne 66 is 20.1m long with a 5.2m (17ft) beam, and exemplifies the long-lasting collaboration with Nuvolari-Lenard by retaining the iconic MCY structure and recognisable profile, but with sleeker lines and innovative elements.

The enlarged flybridge has a large L-shaped sofa to starboard behind the helm station, which is accompanied portside by a C-shaped sofa, while there’s still space aft for a wet bar and sun loungers. The introduction of lateral supports and chromed stainless pillars to sustain the carbon-fibre T-top enables 360-degree views.

The bulwarks’ wide breaches create a significant increase in internal volumes and exposure to light, highlighted on the split-level saloon, which features an open galley and dining area aft, and a raised lounge forward, although the layout can be customised. The use of reflective materials, mirrors and lacquered wood, in combination with wide lateral windows, create a bright interior.

On the lower deck, additional bow portholes provide more natural light for the VIP cabin, while the expansion of the signature double porthole benefits the owner’s cabin. There’s also a guest cabin to starboard with en-suite.

The saloon and cabins feature a sophisticated modern decor, with high-end fabrics, natural stones and Italian leathers among available materials, while elegant glossy marble elements enriched by touches of copper are among defining features.
