MACCIU Nike Air Zoom Type By You Release Info

Grounded in a minimal, geometric absurdity, Japanese graphic artist MACCIU has finally released a collaborative Nike project nearly two years in the making. Backed by personal storytelling and an imagery heavy video campaign, the young creative touches on her two-sided approach to seeing the world — “…one foot in the real world, and one in a dream.” Augmented reality and rendered dreamscapes further immerse, setting the tone for the fittingly eccentric Air Zoom Type whose colors and details are at your hands thanks to the newly launched Nike By You platform.

Though unique in its own right, the Air Zoom Type is going a step further as it removes much of its original constructions. Synthetic shells are enhanced by way of contrast stitch and quilt-like cuts as well as an elongated tongue that adorns with graphic flair. Toolings, which double up much like Chitose Abe’s own works with the brand, bear neutral exteriors and colored accent lines — the tread and foxing decals seeing to various primaries. The upper’s subtler details are exposed to the same options, left to dress up a white, black, red, or olive toned backdrop. Elsewhere, the tongue strip can be colored individually and written atop with Japanese lettering while the inside hides equality-themed doodles behind MACCIU’s logo.

In other news, the Nike Zoom Flight The Glove is rereleasing.
