Nike Air Max Day 2018 On Air Design Workshop Vote

Nike’s annual Air Max Day celebrations continues its focus on bringing power to the people. In 2015, the brand launched the “Vote Back” campaign, which let the world select one Air Max grail of the past for a re-issue. It evolved into “Vote Forward”, which saw twelve Air Max designs by creatives from around the world be up for ballot; that resulted in Sean Wotherspoon’s Nike Air Max 97/1 go into production. For Air Max Day 2018, the brand will continue the “Vote Forward” concept, but the designs will come from the hands of the public.

It will begin with Nike’s “On Air” sneaker design workshop across six cities that will allow participants to go through five distinct stages of creating an Air Max shoe. The stages include concept development, silhouette selection, material exploration, color exploration, and embellishment. Each of the complete designs will be submitted to a judging panel that will include Nike designers and city ambassadors, with three submissions will be selected per city. These will then be turned into 3D renderings, and from there the eighteen total designs will be up for vote on nike.com/onair. The winning design will then go into production and release at a later date.

The Nike “On Air” workshop begins on March 22nd and will run through April 15th; it will take place in NYC, London, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
