4/20 has always been important to Nike SB — their many commemorative releases evident of that very fact. But after the drop of their iconic Skunk Dunks years ago, the line-up rarely achieved a standout on the same level. 2020, however, may just change that for the better as the brand has revealed not one but two celebratory colorways of equal energy. The first, which was unfortunately postponed, showed some love to the Strawberry Cough strain and the next arrives with similar inspiration though it seems to prefer the high of the Purple Haze. Outfitted in a vast array of suede fabrications, the pair cuts quite close to the aforementioned in texture while the colors seem to flip the palette for a take that can easily be coined the Reverse Skunk Dunk. Much of the paneling doses two different shades of purple, swooshes and toolings mark with a vibrant cannabis-like green, and the insole adds a fittingly festive graphic. It’s also possible that the release will be limited to a total of 420 as the lateral heel stamps with a “1/420” debossing.
