Only New Yorkers Will Appreciate This “Beef Patty” Inspired Sneaker Collaboration

Pizza may be recognized as the food of New York City, but there’s another guilty treat that is heralded as the food of the streets. We’re talking about beef patties, the ubiquitous staple of corner store bodegas and select pizzerias across the five boroughs that features a mystery meat-paste mixture wrapped in a flaky yellow crust. The Jamaican beef patty hasn’t gone mainstream yet, but Fila and Brooklyn’s Alumni sneaker shop got together to give this treat its due by way of a yellow/brown colorway of the Fila Overpass running silhouette – a righteous tribute to a NY staple that continues strong in pockets all around the city. To gear up for the July 9th, store-exclusive release, Alumni put together a video featuring “newbies” who try the food and react to it on camera. Peep the video just below and cop your pair on July 9th at Alumni and alumniofny.com.
