As one of Nike’s most esteemed collaborative partners, UNDERCOVER mastermind Jun Takahashi has flipped several Swoosh Brand silhouettes to great effect, and his latest project is seven colorways of the Nike Daybreak, one of which is this black/white makeup. With its sleek silhouette, nylon/suede construction, and waffle sole, the Daybreak’s base offers quintessential early ’80s Nike style. However, Takahashi has added an aggressive plastic heel piece that almost looks like a gaping jaw to ensure UNDERCOVER’s signature elegant-yet-chaotic look is also on full display. The loose leather heel tab then boasts a cleverly-placed U logo. Although these Nike shoes are mainly dressed in a simple grey, white, and black palette, there’s plenty of blue and grey speckled detailing as well. The look is then finalized by a text hit on the midsole plus co-branded detailing on the tongue tag and insole.
