A Closer Look at the Air Jordan 12 Retro "The Master"

Black, white and gold like MJ’s iconic Nike poster from ’97.

Jordan Brand takes us back with the Air Jordan 12 Retro “The Master,” whose black, gold and white color palette is borrowed from Michael Jordan’s vintage 1997 Nike poster of the same name (see below). A supple black leather upper with faux-lizard mudguard is paired with black laces and accented with metallic gold lace eyelets, while each heel sports a small grey ’23.’ This special silhouette lead Jordan Brand as it officially became a Nike subsidiary, and its distinct upper design comes inspired by the Japanese flag’s rising sun. Michael Jordan famously wore the Jordan 12s as he went on to win his fifth NBA title (the Flu Game) with the Chicago Bulls.
