Best Sneaker Releases: September 2018 Week 1

Week after week, the most popular and up-and-coming sneaker brands release new models, collaborations and retros in order to create the biggest buzz amongst sneaker aficionados. The competition has risen over the years with the introduction of new technology and the use of influencers over time, thus presenting an even larger variety of selections for sneakerheads and casual shoppers alike.

PSNY x Nike Air Force 1

Release Date: September 4-6
Release Price:  $200 USD/each via PSNY pop-up

The next PSNY x Nike drop will feature color options of white, black and grey. Each edition shares elements of the famed Air Force 1’s high, mid and low models making the pairs an extremely unique fusion of sorts. Different material panels, exaggerated stitching and adjustable back ankle straps drive the kicks’ special design. Look out for these during the beginning of New York’s Fashion Week event.

Dr. Woo x Converse Collection

Artist Dr. Woo uses the Chuck 70 to showcase the “beauty of evolution”. This concept was executed by making the model convert to a new colorway after wear and tear. The hues begin in black or white with Sunset Gold and Green Absinth respectively revealing over time. The design is also complemented with translucent-detailed outsoles and Dr. Woo’s signature eye logo on the left toe box.

adidas Originals Falcon

Release Price:  $100 USD, available at select adidas Originals retailers and adidas.com

After being revealed with the help of Kylie Jenner, the adidas Originals Falcon is ready to hit retail shelves. The ’90s-inspired sneaker rests atop a thick sole unit which supports a mesh upper. Branding is kept to a minimum on the women’s sneaker with a small adidas Trefoil logo on the lateral sides, tongue and heel.

“AWOK” x Air Jordan 3

Release Price:  $220 USD, available via select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike SNKRS

Following up the AWOK x Air Jordan 1 from July, the Air Jordan 3 will also be delivered in two colorway options. Influence is rooted in Anna Wintour’s signature suits and sunglasses with tweed used for each upper. The AWOK stamp is added to the heels as each is joined by an “Edited by Vogue” keychain and housed in a premium box and two suede dust bags.

Supreme x Nike SB Gato

Release Price:  $110 USD, available via Nike SNKRS

The last Supreme release saw its Nike SB Gato rapidly sell out. The collaboration will launch once more on Nike’s SNKRS App. All four colorways make a comeback for those who missed out the first time around. Supreme branding returns to each lateral side with the streetwear house’s “World Famous” motif found on the heels.

Y-3 RUNNER 4D

Y-3 is back with a new rendition of the RUNNER 4D sneaker. The main difference between the forthcoming drop and the original is the colorway. A new all-black design featuring across the primeknit upper as a contrast to February’s white iteration. Other features include ultra-resistant eye stays, Yohji Yamamoto embroidery on the heel and cording which replaces adidas’ signature Three Stripe branding. The upper sits atop the signature light green FUTURECRAFT 4D midsole for long-lasting cushioning and stability.

The Air Jordan 12‘s next special iteration pays homage to Michael Jordan’s stop in Tokyo for the Hoop Heroes basketball clinic. The clinic included 1-on-1 games, HORSE and an exhibition game against Japan’s famous sumo wrestlers whose kimonos would ultimately inspire the print found on the upper.

Skepta‘s third Nike Air Max collaboration features a black neoprene base displaying a VHS static pattern with “NEVER SLEEP ON TOUR” and “12:05 PM JUNE 08 2014” text done in OSD mono font. The time stamp references the time and date Skepta released his single “That’s Not Me.” Lastly, you’ll find dark red tinting found on the full-length Air unit sole system for contrast.

END‘s adidas Yung-1‘s upper comes in net mesh with nubuck and suede overlays. The base sees “Ash Silver” and grey which is contratsed by tonal blue and purple touches around the toe, heel and tongue. The design is completed with alternate adidas Originals and END. branding on the tongues.
