IWC Schaffhausen, the sponsor of the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team, has released the Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Edition “Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012″
The Volvo Ocean Race is an exciting around-the-world race covering over 39,000 miles through some of the world’s most treacherous waters.
The Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph is powered by the rugged IWC-manufactured 89360-calibre movement and is water-resistant to 6 bar.
The chronograph demonstrates its sporting qualities with a flyback function and an additional flange with quarter-second calibration for recording short periods of time.
Its case, measuring 45.5 mm, is made of titanium and it has a black carbon fiber dial with unique markers.
Titanium is more resistant to corrosion so that the watch can be exposed to salty water without a significant risk of irreversibly damaging the body and other parts.
The engraving “Edition Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012″ can be seen on the back of this well-designed and impeccably crafted chronograph.
