After the breakout success of Your Name, lauded Makoto Shinkai is now gearing up to premiere his next animated feature film, Weathering With You.

Ahead of the movie’s July 19 release, we now have the first trailer for the latest dramatic and emotional work from the Japanese animator. Set to a new track from J-rock band Radwimps, we get a look at the stunning animation that accurately captures in Tokyo landmarks like Roppongi Hills’ Mori Tower and the Rainbow Bridge that connects Tokyo to Odaiba.

Weathering With You will chronicle the story of 16-year-old high schooler Hodaka Morishima, who runs away from her countryside home to go to Tokyo. The influence of Japan’s Shinto religion and the indigenous nature-based religion’s rituals and folklore throughout the film will serve to express an interesting cultural point of the nation to the world.
