Dato’ Kamisah Johan, Founder and Group Executive Chairman of Rembawang Holdings Sdn Bhd

Could you briefly introduce yourself and your company?
Originally from Tampin, a town in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, I moved to Kuala Lumpur at a very young age. I started my career in the hospitality industry before going into the property industry. I decided it was time to strike out on my own at the age of 30. I felt that it was the right age for me to start my own business then as I had the maturity and experience in the property industry. I established Rembawang Holdings as a property investment company in 2008 with land acquisitions in Klang Valley. Our approach was to acquire land, develop a concept, apply for the necessary approvals from authorities, and package all of that to the property companies which had the ability to start the development right away. We have now expanded our portfolio to property development with Teringin @ Sri Ukay as the company’s maiden development.

What were your hopes and vision when you started Rembawang?
I was very determined to make Rembawang a property developer with a unique proposition, based on our deep understanding of the need to meet both the lifestyle requirements of homebuyers and the expectations of investors. Our vision is to build thoughtfully-designed and people-centric developments while placing special emphasis on keeping the socio-economic and natural environment of the surrounding localities intact. I hope to showcase the company’s proposition with Teringin @ Sri Ukay. Teringin is not just a home, it is a lifestyle. We want to
incorporate the Asian values and the nostalgic heritage of past era, which I grew up in.

What sets Rembawang, or Teringin, apart from other property developers?
Every project Rembawang undertakes focuses on a “quality-conscious” approach, as we are committed to providing the best quality to our homebuyers and investors. Rembawang preserves the integrity of its design by bringing warmth and a sense of familiarity. Our latest project, Teringin @ Sri Ukay is a low-density development of luxury semi-detached homes and a single bungalow that is taking shape on a 5-acre land. The development is conceived around the concept of heritage and multigenerational living. Designed by award-winning architect MJ Kanny, these semi-detached homes will incorporate either colonial or Peranakan designs but with modern materials and features to suit current lifestyles and comfort. Located at
Taman Sri Ukay, it is not only a stone’s throw away from the heart of Kuala Lumpur, but also offers beautiful natural surroundings in an established peaceful neighbourhood for future
residents. With multigenerational living in mind, Teringin is designed as the ideal home for families of different and community room within the gated and guarded community with
controlled entrance and exit points.

What other nearby infrastructure can future residents benefit from? (i.e. railway, shops/retail, etc)
Situated within minutes from the central business hub of Kuala Lumpur, Teringin is easily accessible via major expressways such as the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) and the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2). The matured localities of Ampang provide amenities such as a private hospital, international schools,
shopping malls, etc.

What kind of demographic do you wish to attract for the project?
We wish to attract individuals who value a sense of personal space, yet blend harmoniously with family and community. To meet the needs of this demographic, Teringin provides a variety of built-up area ranges from approximately 4,600 to 6,200 square feet, five to seven bedrooms including a spacious master and junior suite; all of which will be equipped with a home elevator. This provides greater space and more fluid room selections for its occupants.

Why did you choose this project to be the maiden project for Rembawang?
We hope that through the launch of Teringin, we are able to showcase to homebuyers our commitment to the creation of sustainable communities, where buyers can fulfil their expectations of lifestyle, quality, opportunities, safety, and value for now and in the future.

What do you hope Rembawang can achieve in the coming years?
We hope that the versatility of our products will translate to successful developments that can cater to the lifestyle needs of the owners and the community as a whole and that our maiden project, Teringin @ Sri Ukay, will be able to demonstrate Rembawang’s promise and commitment to deliver high-quality homes. Apart from residential projects such as Teringin @ Sri Ukay, Rembawang plans to add office and commercial spaces to its portfolio.
