{"id":12561,"date":"2016-03-10T11:59:13","date_gmt":"2016-03-10T16:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thatdope.com\/travel\/most-expensive-cities-in-the-world-2008\/"},"modified":"2016-03-10T11:59:13","modified_gmt":"2016-03-10T16:59:13","slug":"most-expensive-cities-in-the-world-2008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thatdope.com\/travel\/most-expensive-cities-in-the-world-2008\/","title":{"rendered":"Most Expensive Cities in the World \u2013 2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div readability=\"64.9827255278\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/new-york.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mercer has just released its top 50 most expensive cities <\/strong>in the world based on cost of living.<\/p>\n<p>Mercer\u2019s Worldwide Cost of Living Survey 2008 is <strong>used to help multinational companies and governments determine living costs for their expatriate employees<\/strong>, who usually demand a relatively high quality of life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mercer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s survey covers 253 cities<\/strong> across six continents and measured the relative cost of over 200 items in each place, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luxuo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/moscow.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7911\" title=\"moscow\" src=\"https:\/\/thatdope.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/moscow-468x314.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"314\"\/><\/a><br \/><span id=\"more-876\"\/><br \/>For the third consecutive year, <strong>Moscow is the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most expensive city for expatriates.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Its position has been strengthened by the appreciation of the rouble against the US dollar and the continuous rising accommodation costs. 10 years ago Russia was in crisis !<\/p>\n<p>Now, <strong>Moscow is home to 74 billionaires<\/strong>, the most of any city in the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tokyo is in second position <\/strong>climbing two places since last year, whereas London drops one place to rank third.
