While no longer at the forefront of The Swoosh’s running category, the Nike Air Tailwind 79 continues its retro run with a lifestyle-ready “Vast Grey/White/Light Bone/Sail” arrangement.

Uppers on this iteration of the Tailwind model forgo their nylon base in favor of a “White” honeycomb-shaped mesh; “Vast Grey” overlays at the forefoot and heel and along the tongue maintain their traditional suede makeup. Elsewhere, leather profile Swooshes and heel tabs further indulge in a pristine palette, though the latter features black “NIKE” text. Nodding to the silhouette’s vintage status, exposed foam tongues and their laces are clad in “Sail” and accompanied by orange branding. Below, a “White” midsole and black waffle outsole combination also harken back to the Tailwind’s debut during the 1978 Honolulu Marathon.

A stateside release date is still unknown for this subtle Tailwind 79, but pairs are currently available at Nike.com across Asia.

In related retro runner news, the Nike Challenger from 1979 has recently emerged in a “University Red/Coastal Blue/Solar Flare” colorway.
