PDT experience includes the signature ‘secret’ entrance, disguised as an old-fashioned phone booth

Located at the swanky Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong hotel, PDT (Please Don’t Tell), which is voted one of the best bars in the bar guides by patrons, will now open on its first permanent location in Hong Kong.

The PDT Bar Hong Kong’s edition has been recreated to reflect one of New York’s most popular speakeasies, notable for its clandestine phone-booth entrance, gourmet haute dogs and creative cocktails, you don’t have to travel out to taste the similar goodness.

Helmed by Hong Kong’s Mandarin Michelin-starred chef, chef Richard Ekkebus, he has created a list of menu serving up Hong Kong’s version of riff on Crif, using frankfurters made with free-range pork, chicken and beef. For example, the Honkie Dog is made with fried pork combined with sakura shrimp and XO mayo. For fries, the chef recommended okonomoyaki-style tater tots topped with kewpie mayonnaise, takoyaki sauce, shredded nori, bonito shavings and scallions.

Wash down with one of drinks from the list, such as The Big Fan – for example, has a refreshing shandy, made with Cabeza tequila, lime juice, pink peppercorn, guava, and locally produced craft beer Moonzen Fujian Radler.

Seats up to 25 people, the PDT bar features a copper bar top, herringbone patterned wood ceiling and taxidermy to complete the cosy and intimate ambiance. Visionary OG mixologist Jim Meehan, who was named the American Bartender of the Year by groups like Tales of the Cocktail, Drinks International and the James Beard Foundation, has curated new drinks for patrons to enjoy and unwind in comfort. Pick from PDT Hong Kong’s drinks menu, featuring 15 types of cocktails, including a mix of original PDT classics.
