LAD MUSICIAN 2018 Spring/Summer Collection

Tokyo’s LAD MUSICIAN returns with a new collection of culture-influenced gear. Usually inspired by rock music, the Japanese label also takes cues from artists for Spring/Summer 2018, dubbed “MAYBE A PAINTER OR A MUSICIAN.”

Drawing inspiration from Roland Barthes, Mattias Gustafsson, and Michi Hayashi’s Art Seminar series “Paintings Die Twice,” “MAYBE A PAINTER OR A MUSICIAN.” blends abstract imagery and contemporary silhouettes with a muted color palette. Illustrated flowers, scribbled smiley faces and jagged paint smears cover blazers, sweaters, shirts, caps and more, with other wardrobe staples executed in texture-less cotton blends. Trousers range from stovepipe silhouettes to slim, stacked jeans while layering pieces are as varied as the collection’s imagery. LAD MUSICIAN’s signature distressed knitwear returns, alongside its preferred bomber and leather jackets.

Expect the new goods to hit the brand’s web store early next year. For more Japanese fashion, take a look at nonnative’s collaboration with B Jirushi Yoshida.
