Rihanna Working On Two New Pop and Reggae Albums

As HYPEBAE reports, rumors are swirling concerning Rihanna‘s next major studio projects.

Specifically, a new Rolling Stone piece reveals that Rihanna is currently sitting on over 500 different records from various Jamaican producers and songwriters, and each composition has been submitted for an album that is said to be a mix Caribbean dancehall music and reggae. R. City, Ricky Blaze, Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, Skrill, Boi-1da and others have taken part in that effort’s sessions. “They’re only choosing 10 records. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project,” shares one source.

On the another side of the musical spectrum, Rihanna — who has been promoting her Fenty Lingerie line in recent weeks — is also said to be working on a new pop album. According to Rolling Stone’s sources, that LP is still in its developmental stages. “Rihanna is Bajan, so let’s make this a full project like that. To me, it hasn’t been going that way. They’re kind of mixing it up, putting in the pop,” one producer-source tells Rolling Stone. “If the reggae artists and producers won’t get the chance on the pop album, at least let us survive on the dancehall album. They’re changing up the direction continuously.”

We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.

Most recently, Rihanna has dominated headlines for her role in Ocean’s 8.
