In 2013, NOISEY released a web series titled Chiraq, documenting drill music and it’s biggest players. Although it was a very informative series, many people — especially those living in Chicago — felt that it did not give an accurate and well-rounded portrayal of what the city was about. In response, VICE released a follow-up episode via their TV channel VICELAND, titled Noisey Chicago. Not only did they give a more in-depth explanation of how the music came to be, but also shone some light on the social, political and cultural issues surrounding it, as well as how the city’s residents are dealing with the violence. The documentary features cameos from Chief Keef, Vic Mensa, Common, Lil Durk and more. Watch it here.
