With two owners and under 62,000km, this 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 by Touring is an amazing showcase of classic sports car heritage thanks to its meticulous maintenance and servicing.  Celebrity Jay Leno, a huge Lamborghini enthusiast owns such a model and he’s one of the biggest classic car geeks around. Leno’s own 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2  has over 200,000 miles on it and it’s still running perfectly.

In its day, the 400 GT was Ferruccio Lamborghini’s dream of the perfect car come to life. It’s true that Lamborghini wanted to outdo Ferrari but he wanted to do it in a way that presented the ultimate race car in a more refined, Italian way. In 1967, the Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 was an everyday car – it was built to be driven and not just a show “bull”.

With most classic super cars, sometimes what’s up for auction is in such perfect condition that the new owner is hesitant to drive them but this 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 by Touring is ready to be driven. It remained in the hands of its first owner for close to 50 years when he purchased it brand new straight from Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese factory where Ferruccio handed over the keys himself.

The original Azzurro Mettallizzato over a Nero interior with after completion chassis no, 01285 exists today just as it did in 1967 it was taken over in the Netherlands by her new owner. Over the next four years, the Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 was driven regularly, accumulating close to 50,000 km. When the classic super car returned to Sant’Agata Bolognese for servicing, the owner’s son followed to work as an intern with Lamborghini in order to learn about the Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2’s mechanical nuances. This allowed the father and son pair to make personal maintenance during minor servicing possible. When the owner retired, he used it occasionally, largely keeping the car in storage but drove it from time to time to keep it in running condition before finally parting with the car in 2017, where the new owner kept it preserved as a classic showpiece.

On sale by RM Sothebys on 25 May 2019, this 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 by Touring is up for auction. Your chance to own one of the few remaining original examples of its breed.
