Icon Yachts is scheduled to deliver its flagship Icon 280 in 2021, with construction on the 2,450GT megayacht well underway at its shipyard in Harlingen, Netherlands. The 84m (275ft) yacht has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with a beam of 13.5m (44.3ft) and a draft of 3.8m (12.5ft).
For sale through Burgess, the Icon 280 is designed by Englishman Tim Heywood, with naval architecture by Dutch firm Van Oossanen and a provisional interior by Icon and Gimena Mazzeo, although a new owner can have their own input.
The yacht is designed to accommodate up to 19 guests in seven cabins – five guest suites, a VIP and the master cabin, with the option of five additional berths. The five guest suites are all located privately on the lower deck with direct access to the spa, hammam, gym and beach club.
The large VIP suite is starboard on the main deck, while the 126sqm master stateroom is on the upper deck and includes a private study forward, spectacular 270-degree views and open sea balconies to port and starboard. It also has direct access to the touch-and-go helipad, capable of hosting an EC 135.
Indoor-outdoor living is at the heart of Icon 280, with large, sweeping interior spaces connecting with the outdoors. Multiple dining options are located throughout the yacht, including al fresco dining on the main and upper decks, which each have large saloons. The main deck’s eye-catching infinity pool and informal lounging areas are among other focal points of life onboard, while a cinema is another attraction.
The asking price of €89.5 million (about US$100 million) excludes the cost of the interior, and is €111 million (about US$124 million) with the proposed Icon interior.
“Due for delivery in 2021, the Icon 280 offers a rare opportunity to secure a Dutch-built yacht of this size without an extended build period – a chance to ‘jump the queue’,” said Burgess Sales Broker Ian Sherwood.
“The new owner currently still has the ability for personalised input to the project in order to ensure a degree of customisation can be added to a yacht that is available in half of the time of a custom project.”
The yacht has twin bow thrusters, retractable Rolls-Royce stabilisers and twin 2,040hp Caterpillar engines, and is predicted to have a top speed of 16.5 knots, a cruising speed of 13 knots and a range of 6,000nm. Designed for up to 28 crew, the yacht is being built to Large Yacht Code, MCA and Lloyd’s standards.
