Yacht of Champions: Motor Yacht Sea Bear Westport 130

Motor Yacht vessels are a staple for multi-millionaires and billionaires. Just ask Andrey Melnichenko, world’s 139th richest person and former Motor Yacht boat owner. Or more impressively, famed professional “Golfer of the Century” Jack Nicklaus, owner of  “Golden Bear”, the christened name of the Sea Bear Westport 130 superyacht featuring naval architecture by William Garden and exterior design by Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects, Thanks to him, the newly renamed Sea Bear is now an on-water museum showcasing his achievements from his clubs to bas-reliefs of his championship trophies and a collection of unique artifacts, handpicked by Jack and his wife, Barbara Nicklaus.

Luxurious and stylish, the 40 meter Sea Bear Westport 130 superyacht features elegant interiors and expansive decks, both indoors and outdoors for social gatherings. Sea Bear, as one might have surmised, is inspired by Nicklaus’s own name for his ship, capable of holding up to 50 guests for a day cruise and 10 overnight. Sea Bear’s reputation for a museum-yacht is quite warranted as well: 36 unique pieces hand-selected by Jack and Barbara, straight from the Jack Nicklaus Museum in Columbus, Ohio, as well as personal artifacts from their home are on display but the piece de resistance remains the 50 by 36 inch cherry wood bas-relief by artist Pat Morell showing off all of Nicklaus’s major championship trophies and unique Sterling silver plates listing off the many years, venues and scores for each victory; in short, the Sea Bear is not just a sophisticated and elegant superyacht with spacious galley that leads into a master stateroom with a tub, four cabins in the tri-deck, an upper deck with a Jacuzzi for eight, it’s a superyacht with immense history and character.

Icing on the cake, ignore the heritage and non-golf aficionados can certainly appreciate the sun pad at the foredeck and a sky lounge offering not just a bar and grill but also a 360-degree cruising view for an unforgettable experience.
