Best Sneaker Releases: September 2017 Week 1

Once upon a time, Nike, adidas and other sneaker brands would bless us with releases of coveted sneakers once or twice a month. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon for different footwear labels to drop multiple pairs of heat in just one weekend. Making it easier for you to choose whether to cop or drop, we continue our weekly roundup of the silhouettes that will be sought after this week. Nike Air Max 90 “Doernbecher”

Nike’s Doernbecher tradition continues and kicks off with a special drop using the Swoosh’s Air Max 90 model. Inspired by the University of Oregon, you’ll find color fades, camo patterns and words of motivation throughout. White, black grey and yellow make its way incorporated within the upper.

Air Jordan 1 Flyknit

The one that started it all makes its return in a contemporary form. The Air Jordan 1′s popular “Bred” color scheme makes a comeback using Nike’s innovative Flyknit technology. The expected leather isn’t shelved for good as its placed on the model’s inner lining as an homage to the past.

The basketball-inspired silhouette is back in another colorway. Nike’s Zoom Flight Bonafide’s Flyknit upper hosts dark green coloring while white makes its way onto the midsole. A nostalgic gum coloring is found on its outsole to complement its bug-eyed pods on the midsole.

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Ishod Wair”

Ishod Wair’s places his personal taste onto Nike’s SB Dunk Low Pro model. A light shade of grey suede is complemented by pink detailing found on its tongue and Swoosh outline. A darker grey is placed on its laces and outsole to contrast its light shade found on the rest of its upper.

adidas Originals and Pharrell Williams welcome four new colorways to the Tennis Hu family. The forthcoming “New York Tennis” Pack presents gold, dark blue, scarlet and blue color options onto the Stan Smith inspired sneaker. Its color selection coincides with the apparel and accessories range revealed back in August via adidas Originals and Pharrell.

Sneakerness x ASICS GEL-Lyte V “Passport”

This collaborative project’s influence is rooted in a European passport. The Sneakerness x ASICS GEL-Lyte V is coated in a burgundy hue that rests atop of a white midsole and gum colored outsole. Its medial side branding is done in gold as a contrast to its lateral side while “SNEAKERNESS” branding is found on its white laces. The passport-inspired collaboration is limited to 100 pairs and will be housed in special wooden box for its packaging in addition to extra insole options.

Arguably the biggest collaborative drop of 2017, Virgil Abloh joins forces with Nike to create “The Ten.” The mashup has resulted in ten deconstructed designs on the Swoosh’s most unforgettable and innovative sneakers to date. Over time we’ve seen Abloh specifically seed friends and family with personalized iterations of the Air Jordan 1 and other sneakers. Soon you’ll have the chance to add a pair to your personal collection thanks to this pre-release which will be followed by a wider launch this November.
