Billy Ray Cyrus will be featured on Lil Nas X‘s upcoming “Old Town Road” remix, Rolling Stone reports. Recruiting the veteran country star seems like a direct response to Billboard removing the song off the Hot Country Songs chart.
On Instagram, Cyrus showed support for “Old Town Road” last week, quoting the record in his caption.
“Been watching everything going on with OTR. When I got thrown off the charts, Waylon Jennings said to me ‘Take this as a compliment’ means you’re doing something great! Only Outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club,” Cyrus wrote.
Lil Nas X recently spoke about the controversy surrounding his song, saying that he doesn’t believe the removal of the record off the chart doesn’t have anything to do with race.
