Here's Why DC Movies Don't Succeed Compared to Marvel

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe dominating the box office in recent years, from films like Black Panther and Avengers Infinity Wardemolishing box office records, it’s a wonder why projects from DC Comics have a tough time getting the same kind of accolades. Justice League, for instance, underperformed last Thanksgiving holiday when it was released, and received a slate of negative reviews from the press.

Evan Puschak from “The Nerdwriter” dug into some of the reasons as to why he thinks DC films have a tougher time connecting with audiences compared to Marvel. For one, the physics in DC’s special effects are often inconsistent, causing confusion among viewers and making movements seem unrealistic — even for a superhero movie. Meanwhile, the MCU is much more polished and goes above and beyond by creatively using powers, instead of simply using brute force repeatedly as characters like Superman often do. Lastly, the comic pauses between action scenes in films like Avengers help characters seem relatable and add unique identities. Take a look at more of the reasons in the clip above.

Hopefully DC’s strategy to enlist big-name directors like Stephen Spielberg and Ava Duvernay will turn around its unsuccessful run.
