Hyundai looks to once again redefine the mid-size car category with its redesign of the 2020 Sonata. With the sixth generation (2010–2014) first making waves at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, due to Hyundai’s introduction of its “Fluidic Sculpture” design DNA, the 2020 model looks to capture that same excitement — offering great value in a well designed package.
The redesign sees the Hyundai drop by 1.2-inches in height, with more refined body lines that flow from the new LED daytime running lights that extend to the hood, and on to the chrome trim on the windows. The lines a swept up by a newly designed rear, where a single-strip brake light adorns the trunk, curving up on to the extended duckbill spoiler.
On the inside, the Hyundai has been updated with European styling, borrowing luxe details from models that sit well above the Sonata MSRP. Details like quilted stitching on the premium leather seats, a large center console LCD display, controllable ambient lighting, and streamline control buttons/air vents help set this vehicle apart from others in its category. These are all the photos and details so far, as the 2020 redesigned Sonata will make an official debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show in April.
