Latest iOS 11 Leak Confirms Face Recognition & More

Apple‘s forthcoming iPhone X will officially be unveiled on Tuesday, September 12. As we move closer to its reveal, many software developers have been given access to the final version of iOS 11 GM. According to a report by 9to5mac, this version of GM revealed a new generation of Air Pods, a first look at the LTE Apple Watch, and other iPhone X information. Some of the new and confirmed features coming to the OLED iPhone include Portrait Lighting, the ability to support 4K recordings, True Tone Display for white balancing, and a new resolution of 1125 × 2436.

The leak also gives us a look at the facial recognition features that will likely replace the Touch ID fingerprint recognition feature, including a video tutorial for setting it up. There are also clues on how the power switch will be used to interact with iOS without a Home button. Other fun features include 3D-animated emojis called “Animoji.”

Also according to Twitter user Longhorn, the processor in the iPhone X, and likely the step-down iPhone 8 models, will be a six-core chip. However, it’s not clear how many will be higher-powered cores versus energy-saving secondary cores, but they might all be usable at the same time. Take a look below and stay tuned for the official reveal.
