maharishi Upcycles Kimonos for Vapour Trail Capsule

Following the unveiling of its technical-leaning “2020VISION” collection for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2020 season, UK-based imprint maharishi is continuing to bolster its emphasis on upcycled garments with a new release, the Vapour Trail Capsule, which takes vintage kimono fabric and reworks it into appliqué.

Utilizing a long-sleeve T-shirt, short-sleeve T-shirt, as well as the brand’s straight fit Snopants in Summer Polycotton, the capsule transforms the vintage silk kimonos into unique textile additives, dousing the various garments with patterned hits of color. This is met by hand-machine embroidered fighter jets that carry forth the brand’s military underpinnings, placed to look as if the kimonos are the jet’s contrails. Both T-shirt’s are offered up in iterations of black and white, with the Snopants coming in olive and black colorways.
