New Balance Goes to the Archive for Its MiUK Surplus Pack

Celebrating its storied 110th anniversary this year, American sportswear manufacturer New Balance has created a commemorative MiUK pack of six sneaker silhouettes. Of the styles, five are classic, recognizable NBs (the 1500, 670, 575, 576 and 577) while a brand new model — the 991.5, which combines the 991 upper with a 1500 sole — makes its debut. The concept behind the limited, UK-made drop is the use of premium, surplus materials from its factory in Flimby. Each representing a different part of New Balance’s history in Britain, the iconic styles are all primarily crafted with leather and suede in black, grey and earth tones. Completing the pack are details like a Union Jack tag and individual numbering on each pair.

For the release, New Balance has produced a video featuring the masterminds behind some of the best known sneaker boutiques in Europe, each of whom sheds light on their own experience in New Balance’s Flimby factory and with the MiUK Surplus pack. Watch the video above and shop the collection, which is limited to 1906 pairs of each, from September 1 on the New Balance web store.
