Off-White™ FW20 Womenswear, Air Jordan 4 Collab

The response to Off-White™‘s seasonal presentations varies depending on the viewer. Fashion critics may aim to break down the stylistic contrasts visible in the latest presentation of the Virgil Abloh-headed brand (dubbed “Slightly Off”), while the streetwear sect is focused entirely on the feet, where Off-White™ introduced its latest collaborative Jordan sneaker, following its recent Air Jordan 5.

First, the sneaker. The cream-tinged Air Jordan 4 teased before the show via Abloh’s Instagram Stories immediately reminded die-hards of the Chicago creative’s MCA Chicago “Figures of Speech” exhibition, where a host of sample Nike sneakers were on display. These included two Air Jordan 4 silhouettes: one offered similar cream tones, while the other was executed in tonal black. The Fall/Winter 2020 edition, seen on the feet of several models walking the runway, is more in line with the former model, with slightly more white on the midsole and Off-White™’s preferred Helvetica text printed across the upper.

The cut-out designs present in Off-White™ latest menswear show and Spring/Summer 2020 womenswear offering resurface for Fall/Winter 2020, albeit pared back and abetted by various circular motifs. Off-White™ signatures — flowing tailoring, leather suits and contrasting militaria — remain intact, with conventional silhouettes interrupted by twisted shapes, splashes of graffiti-inspired graphics and an array of cow patterns. Ruffled bridal-wear lends contrast to camo pants and hybrid Arc’Teryx windbreakers — upcycled from pre-made jackets and harnesses, rather than an official collaboration — while metallic synthetics play against chunky chain-link jewelry and arm-encasing gloves

Along with its new womenswear presentation, Off-White™ also launched a timely eyewear and jewelry pop-up in Paris.
