Playboi Carti x Palm Angels “Die Punk” Capsule

Italian alt-streetwear label Palm Angels has teamed up with Playboi Carti for a limited edition capsule collection. The line consists of tracksuits, T-shirts, a hoodie, a cap and a denim jacket each emblazoned with a logo that reads “Palm Angels Die Punk.”

To celebrate the collection, designer Francesco Ragazzi and Playboi Carti hosted a launch party at premier streetwear retailer Patron of the New in TriBeca during New York Fashion Week. Get a closer look at the event above and read on for our brief chat with Francesco to find out how the collaboration with Carti came into fruition.

What inspired the “Die Punk” theme?

I’ve been friends with Carti for a long time and we had always talked about collaborating on some pieces together. It took a while, but slowly we started to come up with this idea and wanted to incorporate this punk influence into it. I’m pretty inspired by Carti’s work and feel like what he does has a punk feel to it. Also my last collection was very punk-inspired and I’m just in general really fascinated by the merging of different cultures in fashion – so in this case, hip-hop and punk.

Does your consumer base in the States differ from that of Europe or Asia?

Business-wise it’s all very evenly divided. I’m personally attracted to what’s happening in the States, so I think the clothes maybe shift a bit more towards that market design-wise.

Does being based in Milan affect the brand’s ethos in any way?

Palm Angels has always been a mix of my Italian culture and American culture. Going back and forth between the two countries has always been an important part of my work. It’s the way that I like my brand to be based around, this multi-perspective view of culture.
