The Best Black Friday Sales of 2016

In the United States, the day after Thanksgiving is known mostly as the day when stores slash their prices to get customers to stock up on holiday gifts for the people in their lives (and, let’s be real, mostly for themselves). While big box stores and technology chains are offering crazy deals on appliances, televisions and game systems, most of the clothing stores we shop at here at Highsnobiety usually take part in a more reserved manner.

The sneaker world readily takes part, though. Case in point? There are a ton of sneaker releases like the True Blue Air Jordan 3 and three different colorways of the YEEZY Boost 350 V2 dropping this week. But there are also more socially-conscious retailers who simply refuse to take part in Black Friday, like Noah, who plans to close its retail and online stores that day.

Others, like Patagonia, are using consumerism for good by donating 100% of global sales from its retail outposts and online store in support of environmental grassroots groups.

To help you decide where to spend your money on dope gear during the shopping frenzy, we’ve rounded up the best Black Friday sales from independent and high-end retailers, offering a good balance of hard-to-find goods, well-made clothing and support for some of the small businesses that make the world we shop in feel truly special.

The Hill-Side

Starting November 24 at 11:59 p.m. EST, take 30% off site-wide with the code BLACKFRIDAY. This promotion runs all weekend through Monday, November 28.

Starting Friday, November 25, markdowns hit the sales floor at DSM’s expansive NYC storefront.

Meyvn

Chicago shop Meyvn is giving back this season. Starting Thursday, November 24, shoppers can take 20% off with the code BFS2016, through November 30.

Here’s the kicker, though: 10% of the proceeds will go towards supporting the American Civil Liberties Union.

GREATS

Greats will be releasing a limited edition “Black Friday” Royale to celebrate the 2016 holiday season – an updated version of the classic Blanco Royale with an black accent heel tap and off-white Margom sole.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday will see a 20% all day discount plus free shipping site-wide, plus bigger discounts after 12 p.m. on Monday.

AMAC Footwear

AMAC is celebrating Black Friday with massive discounts, giveaways and tons of new items, including Drake-inspired “Revenge” Vans, CDG & Goyard themed Nike Blazers and Bape Adidas Gazelles.

On a new web page, the company has teased a one-day shopping event which will “be here before you know it.” Details regarding the event such as percentage discounts haven’t been revealed by the site, but it does promote free two-day delivery, downloading the Apple Store app for faster access, and visiting your nearby store to learn about extended hours.
