Tom Sachs Reimagines Wooden 'Shop Chair' in Grey

Following last month’s natural wood iteration, Tom Sachs has introduced his Shop Chair in grey. Though it sports a new paint job, the piece is otherwise identical to the past edition, down to each item’s hand-engraved, sequentially-numbered edition plate.

In line with Sachs’ industrial aesthetic, the wooden Shop Chair blends futuristic touches with a rugged, utilitarian motif. Each fully-assembled maple and pine plywood seat is finished with water-based lacquer to ensure a matte look, with a series of ever-expanding circles bored through each of the perpendicular legs. A single hole is located at the top slat.

Shop the limited edition furniture on Tom Sachs’ web store before the $2,500 USD chair inevitably sells out. Expect it to be shipped by August 1.

We recently went inside Sachs’ “Tea Ceremony” exhibition in Tokyo, after the artist showed off a wild pair of Nike Solarsoft sandals.
