Under Armour ICON Curry 6 Women’s Day Release

Under Armour‘s new ICON Curry 6 release won’t be found in the usual sections on the brand’s website. Thanks to 9-year-old Riley Morrison, the purple-hued sneakers will be available in women’s sizes in honor of International Women’s Day (March 8), all driven by the bold letter Morrison sent to Steph Curry last fall.

“My dad and I visited the Under Armour website and we were disappointed to see that there were no Curry 5s for sale under the girls’ section,” Morrison penned in her note to the NBA player. In response, the Golden State Warriors star vowed to “fix the issue” and said that she’d be one of the first kids to wear the Curry 6. Months later, Curry has delivered on his promise and unveiled the latest edition of the kicks, which were co-designed with direct input from Morrison. The shoes feature a deep orchid and white combination, dubbed the “United We Win” colorway. A camouflage print is located on the outsole, while Morrison’s special drawings have been added to the sockliner, including phrases such as “Girl Power” and “Be Bold.” Tonal purple laces round out the main details.

“I was immediately impressed when I saw Riley’s letter; that a nine-year-old girl had the courage to use her voice to call attention to an issue and keep us accountable. She was focused on the opportunity for ALL girls, not just herself. She’s been an amazing catalyst for change – not only with my product but also with the entire Under Armour brand. She is inspiring, and wise beyond her years,” Curry said.

The baller surprised Morrison with the style at his SC30 x Oakland pop-up yesterday, where the shoes are available for purchase. Sales for the footwear, which retail for $130 USD, will go toward a scholarship fund created by the Stephen and Ayesha Curry Family Foundation. The UA ICON Curry 6 can also be purchased on Under Armour’s official website.
