The Puma Clydes Are Really Limited And Knicks Fans Should Know Why

Knicks fans are treated to Walter “Clyde” Frazier’s rhyming color-commentating every time they tune into an MSG broadcast, and you know the man has swagger if you’ve ever seen him do a sideline report in one of his many colorful print-heavy suits. Back when Clyde was running point for the Knickerbockers throughout the 70s, the basketball squad was at their best, taking home their last championship in 1973. Frazier did so in style too, wearing his signature Puma Clyde model. Puma is finally bringing the retro back after a five-year hiatus with their upcoming “Home and Away” Pack inspired by the original colorways worn on-court.

The Clyde has an interesting backstory too, as Frazier asked for a custom-made pair of Puma Suedes to wear, which eventually led to a wider, more supportive low top with gold foil branding that would turn into the Puma Clyde. The two colorways featured here are a crisp “Home” in white leather with a dark navy stripe and an “Away” featuring an inverted navy upper with a white side panel stripe. Each pair utilizes touches of metallic gold on the “Clyde” branding and brief green accents on the Puma tongue logo to match the OG box. The Puma Clyde “Home and Away” Pack will release this Friday, July 8th at select retailers like the UK’s Footpatrol in limited supply – only 759 pairs will be available to commemorate the number of games Frazier played as a Knick.
